Overview: This hands-on masterclass is designed to equip leaders, supervisors, and operational teams with the systems methods, practical tools, and behavioural insights needed to enable better work and drive Operational Excellence (OpEx). Participants will learn how to apply Human and Organisational Performance (HOP) concepts in real-world settings to reduce error, improve adaptability, and strengthen team engagement. Objective: To drive Better Work and enable Operational Excellence (OpEx) by equipping participants with Systems Methods, Processes and Tools to be productive safely in the work we do. Agenda: · The 5 Principles of Human and Organisational Performance Understand the foundational principles of HOP, what they mean, and what it takes to integrate these principles in day-to-day work. · The Task-Based System: Understanding What Drives Human Performance Explore how task complexity and context work to influence behaviour and variability in outcomes. · The Essential Leadership Cycle: Managing the Complexity of Work · Definitions Matter: What Are Errors, Violations, and Deviations? Learn the science-based definitions of these terms and why they matter · Performance Modes and How Mental Models Frame the Tasks We Do Understand how people shift the mental modes on tasks and how it impacts error vulnerability. · The Top 10 Error Traps in Industry and the Triggers That Help Us Recognise Vulnerability Identify error traps that increase the probability of error and the verbal and physical triggers that highlight when that trap is there. · How Rules and Procedures Can Be Enhanced So People Want to Use Them Rethink procedure design, balancing compliance, usability, and operational reality. · Proven HOP Tools That Significantly Reduce Error Probability at all levels of the organisation · Deviation and Adaptability Analysis: Seeing the Systemic Drivers That Impact Work Learn a method for uncovering the difference between work-as-imagined and work-as-done, and what drives adaptability. · Wrap-Up: Integrating What We've Learned Reflect on how the tools, concepts, and leadership strategies can be integrated into your current operations to begin enabling Better Work immediately
